Philip Klein

Philip Klein is a partner of Kleinberg Lopez Lange Cuddy & Klein. Phil’s extensive background in the motion picture and television industries includes high-level deal-making experience involving both the studio and private law practice sides of the entertainment business. Phil has represented some of the industry’s most celebrated and accomplished artists, producers and production companies while head of the television industry practice at the Pollock, Bloom law firm and later at a well-known Beverly Hills law firm that Phil co-founded. Phil also has extensive studio deal-making and legal experience from serving as Assistant General Counsel of Telepictures Corporation and as an executive in Business Affairs with Lorimar-Telepictures.

Phil’s law practice revolves around the representation of successsful writers, actors, producers, directors, comedians, executives and independent production companies in the film and television industries. He has negotiated and structured deals of all kinds involving almost every type of transaction possible in the television and motion picture industries, including overall deals, talent deals, holding agreements, development agreements, financing agreements, publishing agreements and license agreements. Phil’s clientele includes well-known and accomplished artists as well as up-and-coming creative stars of the future. Phil also has unique experience and expertise in deal-making and legal issues involving the television electronic direct marketing industry.

Phil was born in Albany, New York, graduated from Albany High School as Valedictorian of the Class of 1973, received his A.B. degree in Political Science from Stanford University in 1977, and was awarded his J.D. degree from The University of Michigan Law School in 1980. Phil is active in various charitable endeavors, including currently serving on the Board of Directors of Mazon: A Jewish Response to Hunger following previous service on the Boards of the international relief and development organizations, CARE and American Jewish World Service. Phil also is involved in representing foster children on a pro bono basis in association with The Alliance for Children’s Rights. Phil’s greatest accomplishments are his three children, two college sophomores and a high school freshman, who make him proud on a daily basis. Phil is a member of the State Bar of California and the Los Angeles County Bar Association.
