Peter Lopez

June 7, 1949 – April 30, 2010

Peter Lopez was one of the most respected and well known entertainment lawyers in the country. Over the past two decades, Mr. Lopez represented some of the biggest stars in the world as well as numerous major corporate clients. He was one of the founding partners of Kleinberg Lopez Lange Cuddy & Klein, LLP.

After graduating from UCLA Law School Mr. Lopez began a successful entertainment law career that included representation of some of the most prominent American and international stars in the music, film and television industries. He had a natural affinity for the emerging Latin entertainment business and was a pioneer in representation of many of the most important stars in the Latin entertainment business well before the so-called “Latin Explosion.” Applying the high level of complex deal-making that he acquired from the mainstream market, he revolutionized the kinds of deals that were historically made for Latin stars and brought them to new levels of sophistication in deal making strategies in both Latin America and the emerging U.S. Latin market.

In addition to his work as a lawyer, Mr. Lopez also felt the need to be challenged by using his musical background and industry relationships to develop the careers of numerous major superstar artists, top record producers and songwriters. He was also one of the producers of the highly successful motion picture “Selena”.

Mr. Lopez was appointed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2007 as a member of the California State Athletic Commission on which he currently serves. Governor Schwarzenegger approved him as a Director of the California Exposition and State Fair Board. He was a member of the State Bar of California.
